Find out if professional teeth whitening is the right option for you.

When you are dealing with stained or yellowing teeth, it can be difficult to feel confident in your smile. Fortunately, our very own Vero teeth whiteningBeach, FL cosmetic dentist, Dr. Raymond Della Porta, II, offers an amazing way to get brilliant results. Find out more about our chairside teeth whitening and whether you’re a good candidate for whitening.

While you may hesitate to use bleaching gel on your teeth you should know that professional teeth whitening in Vero Beach is completely safe. In fact, there have never been any serious or damaging problems ever linked to whitening products, when used properly. That’s why if you are feeling a bit nervous about using whitening gel, you may want to turn to us to give you the results you want without any harm coming to your smile.

So, now that I know it’s safe how do I know if I’m a good candidate for professional in-office teeth whitening?

Many of the people coming into our office wanting a whiter smile are great candidates for teeth whitening. If you are dealing with yellow stains caused by aging, smoking, foods and drinks, these stains will respond the best to our whitening treatment.

However, if you have internal stains caused by trauma, taking certain medications or too much fluoride use these stains won’t respond as well to most whitening systems, no matter how strong they are. This is because these stains are far too deep to be penetrated even by the toughest bleaching gels. Other cosmetic dentistry will be required in this case to cover these discolorations.

Teeth whitening is only effective on natural tooth surfaces, so any dental work like crowns or fillings won’t whiten with this treatment.

There are also other factors that will determine whether teeth whitening is right for you:

  • While whitening can be great for older teens and adults, children are not usually right for this cosmetic treatment.
  • If you are pregnant we highly recommend that you wait and get this whitening treatment after your pregnancy.
  • If you have very sensitive teeth or gums then you’ll want to tell us beforehand. Teeth whitening can cause temporary teeth sensitivity, which may be heightened in those who already suffer from sensitivity. This doesn’t mean that whitening won’t be the right choice, but talk to us first to see what you can do to prepare your sensitive teeth for whitening.
  • You will want to be dedicated to good oral hygiene and limit stain-producing foods and drinks that could restain teeth if you want to maintain your results.

If teeth whitening sounds like the cosmetic dentistry that you’ve been looking for in Vero Beach, then it’s time you called our office to schedule a consultation with Dr. Della Porta. What are you waiting for?
